Dictionary of Literary Biography on Lamberto Pignotti
Lamberto Pignotti, born in Florence in 1926, was a member of the radical "Gruppo '63" and subsequently formed the "Gruppo '70," whose membership included, among others, Luciano Ori and Lucia Mariucci. Pignotti has published poetry extensively and has experimented with a variety of poetic forms, from performance and audio to technological and visual. He has also written an impressive array of essays on poetic theory and communication modalities in the mass media. His so-called visual poems (combining words and pictures) have been widely anthologized in both Italian and English, and Pignotti has exhibited some of these poems at prestigious international showings. He was cofounder of the journals Quartiere, Protocolli, and Dopotutto, and he has been an insightful contributor to the columns of newspapers and journals such as Paese Sera, Nazione, Unità, and Rinascita, as well as several magazines within and outside Italy.
