Dictionary of Literary Biography on Julieta Dobles Yzaguirre
One of Costa Rica's most respected literary figures, Julieta Dobles Yzaguirre has been writing creatively since the age of eight. Since her first publication in 1965 she has published eight additional volumes of poetry.
Born in San José, Costa Rica, to Jorge Dobles Ortiz and Ángela Yzaguirre Moya, Julieta Teresita del Niño Jesús Dobles Yzaguirre was the first of five daughters. Jorge Dobles, the family patriarch, had the distinction of owning the first pet store in San José; his wife was a primary-school teacher and later director of the same school where she had previously taught. Julieta inherited her poetic ability from both sides of the family. Her father's relatives include several illustrious Costa Rican writers, among them Fabián Dobles, Álvaro Dobles, Gonzalo Dobles, and Luis Dobles Segreda.
