Dictionary of Literary Biography on Jose Agustin Goytisolo
José Agustín Goytisolo is a prolific and prominent writer who belongs to a very important poetic movement that includes Carlos Barral, Jaime Ferrán, Jaime Gil de Biedma, and Alfonso Costafreda. The literary life of Goytisolo, like the literary life of his peer group, flourished in the 1950s under Francisco Franco's regime. Early in his life Goytisolo started to write poems but did not try to publish them. He first became known to the public through his successful participation in two of the most important Spanish literary contests, the Adonais Prize of Madrid and the Boscán Prize of Barcelona.
