Dictionary of Literary Biography on John Hollander
John Hollander was born in New York City. He received his A.B. and M.A. degrees from Columbia University in 1950 and 1952, respectively, and his Ph.D. from Indiana University in 1959. Married to Anne Loesser in 1953 and the father of two children, Hollander has been a junior fellow of the Society of Fellows at Harvard University and has taught at Connecticut College, Yale University, and Hunter College. In addition, he has been a guest lecturer at Princeton University, a visiting professor at Indiana University, a lecturer at the Salzburg Seminar in American Studies, and an overseas fellow at Churchill College, Cambridge. He has served as a member of the poetry board of the Wesleyan University Press, an editorial assistant for poetry at the Partisan Review, and a contributing editor at Harper's Magazine.
