Sports Stars on Jeff Bagwell
As a child Jeff Bagwell had one dream: to play baseball for his favorite team, the Boston Red Sox. In 1989 his dream seemed to be coming true when the Red Sox drafted him out of the University of Hartford. A year later, however, Boston traded Bagwell to the Houston Astros. Although he was disappointed, he decided to make the best of a bad situation. Bagwell did so well with his new team that he earned the 1994 National League Most Valuable Player award and has become one of the most feared hitters in the major leagues. Though he would still love to play in Fenway Park (Boston's home field), Bagwell now calls the Astrodome his home.
