Dictionary of Literary Biography on Felipe Maximiliano Chacon
Knowledge of Chacón's life and work is limited to the information found in a single volume, Obras de Felipe Maximiliano Chacón, "el cantor neomexicano": poesía y prosa (1924, Works of Felipe Maximiliano Chacón, the New Mexican Bard: Poetry and Prose). Only 183 pages long and written entirely in Spanish, the book was published by the author in his native state of New Mexico. Fortunately, it contains a ten-page prologue by the legislator and historian Benjamin M. Read, a highly respected man of letters at the time. In this prologue Read introduces the work of his friend, Chacón, to the reading public, providing biographical and literary information for those unfamiliar with his work.
