Sports Stars on Eric Lindros
Before Eric Lindros ever played a game in the National Hockey League (NHL), he was being called hockey's next superstar, following in the footsteps of Wayne Gretzky of the Los Angeles Kings and Mario Lemieux of the Pittsburgh Penguins. It took Lindros several years to reach the NHL, but in the 1992-93 season he arrived, after a blockbuster trade between the Quebec Nordiques and the Philadelphia Flyers.
Lindros arrived in 1995 when he lead the league in scoring and won the NHL Most Valuable Player Award. In 1996--1997 he led his team into the Stanley Cup Finals and in 1998 he was the captain for the Canadian Olympic hockey team in Nagano, Japan. Already a superstar, Lindros is still seeking the one trophy he had not receieved: The Stanley Cup.
