Dictionary of Literary Biography on Einar Karason
Einar Kárason is a prolific novelist whose works have been translated into Scandinavian languages, German, and English. He has worked in different genres, writing short stories, children's books, and three screenplays in collaboration with movie director Fridrik Þór Fridriksson. Einar's works on Reykjavík in the years following World War II have proved successful in capturing and mythologizing city life among the poor and down-and-out, and his writings have been adapted for the live stage as well as for motion pictures. Einar Kárason has also been active in campaigning for writers' rights with the Rithöfundasamband Íslands (Icelandic Union of Writers) and in organizing literary festivals in Reykjavík.
