Dorinda Moreno is a natural organizer and leader endowed with boundless energy and caring for people; she is also a poet and writer. Born on 8 August 1939 in Half Moon Bay, California, and raised in San Francisco and Mountain View, Moreno is still connected to strong Indo-Mexican roots in New Mexico. The mother of two daughters and a son, she now has three grand-children. The third oldest in a family of eight brothers and sisters, Moreno grew up with an extended family of over two hundred members that included Garays, Martínezes, Espinozas, Bustillos, and Navarros. Early on, Moreno shouldered the responsibility of helping her mother and father in raising her younger brothers and sisters.
