Authors and Artists for Young Adults on Diana Wieler
Diana Wieler, author of short stories, picture books, and novels, is considered one of Canada's finest writers for young adults. Many of her works have won prestigious Canadian awards and honors, including the Governor General's Literary Award. Wieler's fiction is respected for both its style and its content, as the author writes openly, respectfully, creatively and with insight about themes and issues relevant to contemporary teens. Wieler also has the reputation of being a risk-taker; in the Globe and Mail, Elizabeth MacCallum called her "a good writer with more than a small dose of courage." Bridget Donald, in her Quill & Quire review of Wieler's novel Ran Van: Magic Nation, commented: "Wieler has not shied away from difficult subjects in any of her novels for young adults, but she brings them out ... in full force and treats them with intelligence and grace."
