Within a decade, writer Deborah Crombie has established herself in the competitive field of crime writing as one of the leaders of the pack. Since publication of her first novel, A Share in Death, in 1993, she has become an internationally acclaimed mystery writer. This debut novel introduced readers to the mystery-solving team of Scotland Yard Detective Superintendent Duncan Kincaid and Sergeant Gemma James and was nominated for two awards. As regular as clockwork since then, Crombie has turned out new "Kincaid and James" novels; by the fifth, Dreaming of the Bones, Crombie had hit her stride, apparently. Nominated for an Edgar award as well as other awards, the novel earned a ranking among the Top 100 Crime Novels of the Century from the New York Times.
