David Langford is one of the most popular commentators in the field of science fiction and fantasy, as well as the author of many science-fiction, fantasy, and horror stories and one science-fiction novel. He has also co-authored several books on topics related to popular science, futurology, and microcomputers. He has become best known in both England and the United States for his humorous essays and book reviews (many of which have been published first in science fiction fanzines circulated to only a few hundred fans), for which he has received fifteen Hugo Awards.
David Rowland Langford was born in South Wales on 10 April 1953 to Denis George Langford, an accountant, and Catherine Alice (née Lenta) Langford.
