Dictionary of Literary Biography on Danijel Dragojevic
Although uniformly recognized as one of the most talented poets of Croatian postwar literature, Danijel Dragojevic has not become a widely known public personality. Rather, he has decided to let his poetry speak for him. The high quality of his works, apparent in his first collection published in 1961, has remained a constant throughout his career. More than any of his contemporaries he has shown a profound interest in prose-as-poetry, continually experimenting and redefining this genre over several decades. The highly individualized tone of his works is simultaneously philosophical and lyrical, addressing many of the crises of humanity in the twentieth century.
