Running back Curtis Martin of the New York Jets has been running his entire life. Growing up, he had to run from the crime and drugs that ravaged his neighborhood. At the University of Pittsburgh Martin had to convince the critics who doubted his ability. In his first National Football League (NFL) season, the rookie running back led the American Football Conference (AFC) in rushing, despite the fact that his coach called him a "one game wonder." After three seasons, Martin has nothing left to prove and runs only from opposing defensive players.
