Colleen Doran is a graphic novelist and comic book artist who is best known for A Distant Soil, a comic book series she first created at age twelve and which has now sold over 500,000 copies, and the graphic novel Orbiter, which tells of the unexpected return of a space shuttle believed lost for ten years. Doran's comic book series Reign of the Zodiac tells of a war between the twelve royal families of the zodiac.

Doran always wanted to be an artist. At the age of five, she won an art contest sponsored by the Walt Disney Company.
