Dictionary of Literary Biography on Clara Silva
Clara Silva was a poet, novelist, and short-story writer as well as a biographer and literary critic who wrote two essays on another well-known Uruguayan poet, Delmira Agustini. By date of birth, Silva belongs to the Generación de 1930 (Generation of 1930), also called the Generation of the New Century. However, because she did not start her career as a writer until much later, she has been classified as a reservista (reservist) who in essence belongs to the writers of the Generación de 1940. She was indeed receptive to the same literary influences that affected the writers of that generation. Furthermore, according to Emir Rodríguez Monegal, the development of her work mostly parallels that of these younger writers.
