An acute awareness of the grave consequences of religious intolerance, prejudice, and war characterized Christian Knorr von Rosenroth as he took his place among the leading intellectuals of his day. He was committed to a universal reform to restore what he believed to be a lost harmony and order in religious, political, and academic institutions. At the core of this reform was a vision in which religion, science, and philosophy would be brought within a unified framework. Knorr's efforts to develop such a framework gained the attention and respect of many of the leading thinkers in these fields.
