Charles E. Cobb, Jr., poet and free-lance writer, is a dynamic personality in the literary world. As a writer, he has given audiences In the Furrows of the World (1967) and Everywhere Is Yours (1971), books of poetry that reflect his resolute views regarding the racial barriers confronting oppressed peoples everywhere. His involvement with the civil rights and the antiwar movements of the 1960s served as a springboard for his poetic and narrative creativity. His themes arise out of the injustices and inequities suffered by people throughout the world. Cobb is also well-known for his professional contributions to National Geographic and Black Enterprise magazines, for which he has composed numerous excellent articles on Third World nations. From 1976 to 1979 he also served as foreign affairs news reporter for National Public Radio.
