Andrew Brooke Miller was born in Bristol on 29 April 1960, and he grew up in Bath and Wiltshire. He has one older brother who lives in Paris and a younger half sister in London. He also has eleven stepbrothers and stepsisters. His parents separated when he was four, and he and his older brother went to live in Bath with his mother, who used to work as a relationship counselor.
