Dictionary of Literary Biography on Ana Maria Moix
One year after publishing her first two books of poetry, Ana María Moix acquired instant notoriety as the only woman to be included in José María Castellet's epoch-making 1970 anthology, Nueve novísimos poetas españoles (Nine Very New Spanish Poets). Her first two volumes, the slim Baladas del Dulce Jim (Ballads of Sweet Jim, 1969) and the even briefer Call me Stone (also 1969), have been followed by only one more book of poetry, No time for flowers y otras historias (No Time for Flowers and Other Stories), published in 1971. All three collections were revised and republished together in 1983 under the title A imagen y semejanza (In the Image and Likeness). Though scant, Moix's poetry is significant for placing her within the group of poets that Castellet dubbed "la coqueluche" (the whooping cough) for their youthful peskiness.
