Dictionary of Literary Biography on Alfons Paquet

Alfons Paquet made considerable and varied contributions to German writing during the first four decades of the twentieth century. His novels and short stories often reflect his imaginative involvement with political and social issues. His best plays were performed in Berlin and elsewhere in Germany during the 1920s, the period which saw the culmination of his involvement in current events and of his acclaim by his literary contemporaries. His accounts of his travels to Russia, the Far East, and America are of a concrete, realistic character and of interest as documents of their time and place. He made his first contribution to the Frankfurter Zeitung in 1904, and continued to write for the newspaper until it ceased publication in 1943. Paquet's writings include lyrical poetry, drama, short stories, novels, essays, and accounts of a journalistic nature.
