Your Heart Is A Muscle The Size Of A Fist by Sunil Yapa is a piece of modern fiction told from alternating points of view. The story takes place over a single day, during a mass protest of a World Trade Organization Meeting in the center of Seattle. It is told from the points of view of various different characters, with different roles to play within the event: the protesters, a homeless man who joins in by chance, the police who are assigned to control the situation, and one of the delegates who is trying to attend the meeting. Each of them has wildly varying personalities but all of them have a past and are carrying their own emotional baggage to the event, and each of them is pushed to their personal limit as events start to spiral out of control. Through telling the story from different perspectives, and describing the backstory of each character, a single event that is often told in little detail in mainstream media is given more depth and analysis than ever before.
