“What Kind of Times are These” is a four-stanza free-verse poem by American poet Adrienne Rich. It was written in 1991, and first appeared in her collection Dark Fields of the Republic in 1995. The poem examines the divide between social politics and the natural world, and encourages the reader to invest more time in the present moment.
