Waiting For Tomorrow Overview
Waiting for Tomorrow by Natacha Appanah is a deeply introspective novel that follows the life of the French couple Adam and Anita. Despite the couple's idyllic life in rural France, the reader knows from the beginning that Adam is somehow responsible for the death of Adéle, and ends up serving a prison sentence. Adam and Anita hire Adéle as a nanny for their child, but begin to create artistic works about Adéle's tragic backstory, works that they keep a secret from her. This novel explores the themes of immigration, class, and narcissism.
