In the illustrated non-fiction book Unspeakable: The Tulsa Race Massacre by Carole Boston Weatherford, Weatherford describes the hate and jealousy that resulted in Whites destroying a segregated portion of Tulsa where Blacks had made good lives for themselves. The narration is accompanied by illustrations by Floyd Cooper depicting the savagery of the attack. Themes include racial bias and the causes and results of the violence.
