Under the Skin Overview

In the world presented in Under the Skin by Michael Faber it was the two-legged people, known as vodsels, who were hunted for their meat, considered a delicacy. In order to not have to work in the underground world of the New Estates, Isserley allowed herself to be surgically manipulated to look like a vodsel so she could lure them into her car and onto the meat processing facility. After she met with the elite Amlis Vess, who was against killing the vodsels, and she had a life-changing experience with a vodsel who tried to rape her, Isserley began to have a change of mind about her life and career.
