True Places Overview
Sonja Yoerg’s novel follows the lives of Suzanne Blakemore and her family after they take in a young girl, Iris, that Suzanne had found on the road. Iris has spent her entire life living in the woods with the last three years spent in isolation after her mother’s death. Her presence in the house creates more tension between Suzanne and her family and Suzanne starts realizing that she does not want to continue living the way she has been. Yoerg’s novel investigates the themes of materialism, motherhood, finding purpose and the powers of nature.
