Everything you need to understand or teach True Biz by Sara Novic.
Sara Novic's True Biz is a novel about River Valley School for the Deaf. The school acts as a sacred space in which Deaf children can come together and learn in an environment designed for their success. However, no one outside the school understands the importance of the institution. To cut costs, the district decides to shut down River Valley. When the students find out the district's plan, three of them decide to stage a protest by running away and setting off a bomb, though the headmistress hopes to stop them before the police can arrest them. The novel explores family, education, ableism, protest, and isolation.
