Trespassing Across America Overview
Trespassing Across America is a travelogue by Ken Ilgunas which recounts his journey hiking the route of the proposed Keystone XL pipeline, from Alberta to southern Texas, in the fall/winter of 2012-2013. The book explores not only Ken's hiking journey but also the agricultural and economic history of the Great Plains, all while reflecting on the realities of climate change and our dependence on fossil fuels. On his trip, Ken explores the Heartland of America, getting to know the locals and having the unique experiences of a solo traveler on a very, very long walk. Trespassing Across America explores themes of environmentalism and climate change, travel and adventure, cultural ideologies, and the present versus the future. It also asks the thematic question: What is valuable action?
