In Georgi Gospodinov's novel Time Shelter, when first person narrator G.G. meets and hears about his new comrade Gaustine's clinic of the past, he is working on a novel with similar themes. Gaustine is erecting a clinic in which Alzheimer's patients might return to recreated rooms of past eras. When he hires G.G. to help curate these rooms, G.G. soon becomes obsessed with the project. Over the course of the novel, G.G.'s work with Gaustine and work on his novel increasingly distort his understanding of his identity and his reality. The novel explores themes including memory, identity, and the past.
