Everything you need to understand or teach This Other Eden by Paul Harding.
In Paul Harding's novel This Other Eden, the descendants of Benjamin and Patience Honey have lived peacefully on Apple Island for many generations. However, after the mainland population becomes involved in the islanders' lives and settlement, the state of Maine assumes ownership of the land and threatens to evict the islanders for good. Written from the third person point of view and toying with traditional notions of structure and form, the novel explores themes including loss, alienation, and erasure.
