This Is Pleasure Overview
Mary Gaitskill's novella This Is Pleasure first appeared in the New Yorker in July 2019. The novella tells the story of Quin, a publisher in his sixties who is accused of sexual harassment by a series of women with whom he had longstanding friendships and business relationships. Told in alternating chapters by Quin and his close friend, Margot, an editor in her fifties, This Is Pleasure explores the "Me Too" movement and its implications. This timely novella explores sexuality, fools, superiority complexes, and stories themselves.
