Everything you need to understand or teach Thirst.
Thirst, Varsha Bajaj's young adult novel, is the story of 12-year-old Minni who is living an impoverished life in Mumbai. Her life is made even more difficult by a lack of water. While people in Minni's neighborhood barely have enough water to carry from public taps for their daily needs, the taps in wealthy homes flow freely. Minni and her friends learn that a group, known as the "water mafia," is benefiting from the situation. The mafia members are stealing water and selling it for exorbitant amounts of money. The thievery comes to an end when Minni gathers the courage to help police break up the criminal element. The novel's main themes are wealth versus poverty, hope during difficult times, living up to responsibilities, and women effecting social change.
