Genevieve Gornichec's The Witch's Heart is a retelling of Norse mythology through the eyes of a minor female witch, Angrboda. After being killed by the gods, Angrboda's heart is returned to her by Loki. Angrboda and Loki slowly fall in love and have several strange children who are fated to bring about Ragnarök. Angrboda, who can see the future, tries her best to protect those she loves from the apocalypse she knows is coming. The novel explores storytelling, motherhood, identity, vengeance, and love.
