Although the wife is convinced she has control in her relationship, her best friend Temi sees the marriage and husband as a prison. Over the course of one afternoon and evening with the wife and her husband, Temi therefore sets out to break up their relationship in order to save her friend. Written from the first person points of view of the three main characters, the novel explores themes including identity, power, and expectation.
