The Testament of Mary, written by Irish writer Colm Toibin, was awarded the 2013 Booker Prize. The novel is about Mary, the mother of Jesus. An elderly Mary narrates the story as she struggles to understand why she has lost her husband and her son Jesus. The novel has a twist in that Mary does not believe Jesus to be the Son of God.
