The Tell-Tale Brain Overview
In The Tell-Tale Brain, a non-fiction book told through a series of antidotes, neurologist V.S. Ramachandran looks at how the human brain works - and what happens when parts of it do not. By examining various mental disorders and strange phenomenon, Ramachandran attempts to parse what about our brains makes us human, and why our minds are unique on earth when we physically have so much in common with all other life. Ramachandran examines how small evolutionary steps over the course of thousands of years resulted in every thing that makes us human, from acute visual perception to ethics and art to communication and social hierarchy, and how all of these can be represented by chemical and electrical signals in a physical organ.
