The Stars Beneath Our Feet, by David Barclay Moore, is the story of Wallace Rachpaul, a youngster growing up in Harlem in modern times. Jerome, Wallace's older brother, was involved in gangs. He was killed just months before the events of this novel. Wallace is struggling to cope with his fear and the anger connected to his brother's death. The fear and anger are like a rock in his chest. However, they prompt Wallace to consider a new way to deal with the various aspects of his life. The main themes are the effects of gangs, coping with grief, and coming of age.
