The Sport of Kings is a novel by C.E. Morgan. The story follows three generations in the life of a white, upper-class farm in Kentucky. Against his father's wishes, the new patriarch, Henry, turns the corn farm into a breeding ground for racehorses, eventually ensuring that his daughter, Henrietta, is intimately involved in the operations. Tensions arise when Henrietta begins a passionate romance with Allmon Shaughnessy, a black man who tends to the farm's most prominent horse.
