The Snow Queen is a novel about the lives of three characters as they are impacted by the failing health of a fourth character, Beth. The characters are connected to Beth in different ways (Tyler is her husband-to-be, Barrett is her brother and roommate, and Liz is her best friend) and cope with her illness and eventual death in individual ways, as well. Tyler turns to drugs for an escape; Barrett turns to religious and philosophical pursuits; and Liz reinvents her life, setting off to a new part of the country.
