The Road by Cormac McCarthy is a Pulitzer Prize-winning novel that tells the story of a father and son traveling through a post apocalyptic America. They scavenge for food, clothes, and shelter all while traveling toward the coast in hopes of finding something better. The father develops a bad cough from the horrid weather. He’s shot by an arrow and eventually dies from complications brought on by his poor health. He passes on his last piece of fatherly advice and his son has no choice but to meet new companions and continue the journey.
