The Passage (Book One of The Passage Trilogy) Overview
In the novel The Passage by Justin Cronin, an experiment by the military goes badly awry and almost wipes out the entire population of the United States. One hundred years later, a colony of people living in a fortified city have a strange female visitor whose arrival sets in motion a variety of strange occurrences. Some believe she is a danger while others believe she might hold the answers needed to save them from the virals. Themes in the novel include hope, despair, and the parallels between The Passage and the Biblical story of Noah and the Ark.
