The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake Overview

The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake tells the story of Rose, a preteen girl who discovers that she can feel the emotions of the people who prepare her food. Unsure of how to cope with her gift, she enlists the help of George, her brother Joseph’s friend. George notices that Joseph may also have a special gift. When Joseph begins disappearing for varying stretches of time without warning or explanation, Rose tries to help her brother. Through the process of helping her brother, Rose learns an important lesson about acceptance.
