The One (The Selection) Overview

Kiera Cass's dystopian-romance, young adult fiction novel, The One, is the third installment of The Selection series. The One is the tale of America Singer, a 17-year-old girl who has made her choice and decided that it is Prince Maxon that she wants. Now, however, she must learn how to balance her impulsive nature and her desire to do good for the people with society’s rules in order to gain Prince Maxon's trust and keep his father from eliminating her from the Selection against Maxon's wishes. As she fights for Maxon's hand, she finds her identity and grows into the princess the country needs. The narrative explores themes related to love, society and class, teamwork, competition, power, and the role of women.
