The Naked Mole-Rat Letters Overview
Mary Amato's novel, The Naked Mole-Rat Letters, is the story of Frankie Wallop, a young girl who discovers that her father has met a special woman. Since her mother died, Frankie and her two younger brothers have lived happily with their father, a musician who makes instruments. Frankie fears what will happen if Ayanna becomes a part of their lives. She sets out to discourage Ayanna's interest through a series of emails that become more ridiculous as the lies build, spilling over into her daily life until everything is out of control. The novel's main themes are the importance of family and Frankie's view of friendship.
