The Monk of Mokha Overview
The Monk of Mokha tells the true story of Mokhtar Alkhanshali, a Yemeni-American who helped to revitalize Yemen’s struggling coffee exportation industry. After growing up poor in San Francisco, Mokhtar learned of the strong connection between coffee and Yemeni history. Mokhtar worked to become a coffee expert, make direct connections with farmers in Yemen, and establish a robust new line of exportation, all while navigating Yemen’s growing civil unrest.
