The Magic Thief Overview

The Magic Thief, written by Sara Prineas, is a fantasy novel told in the first-person by Conn, the novel's protagonist. Conn is a young boy living on the streets of the Twilight. He manages to feed himself using his pick-pocket and lock-picking skills. One night, Conn accidentally steals the wizard Nevery's locus magicalicus, a powerful stone that wizards use to control magic. After Nevery takes an interest in Conn because of his ability to steal the stone, Conn works on becoming a good student and Nevery's apprentice. Conn, a bright and resourceful boy, also helps Nevery find answers to why the magic in Wellmet is disappearing. Conn has suspicions that another wizard and the leader of the Twilight may be behind things.
