Futh, a middle aged man recently separated from his wife, sets out on a walking holiday through Germany. Memories of his mother's abandonment as a young man plague his journey, and he wanders lost in futile pursuits of connections long gone. His strange encounter with the managers of Hellhaus hotel seal his fate in hostile circumstances that result from a series of detours and personal failures.
