The Lances of Lynwood is historical fiction. Set in the 1300s during the Hundred Years’ War, it tells the story of a young man named Eustace Lynwood. As a younger son, Eustace has few prospects. Plus he enjoys books and learning and is not a physically imposing young man. When he goes to battle with his older brother, he demonstrates bravery and is knighted. His brother dies, and he is named guardian of his nephew. He finds the favor of the Prince of Wales until a nobleman slanders his name and lies about him. Eustace struggles to regain the favor of the Prince throughout the novel. With the help of his young nephew, Arthur, a page in the Prince’s court, his reputation is restored and he marries the young woman he has loved since he was a child.
