"The Lady's Dressing Room" is a satirical poem by Anglo-Irish writer Jonathan Swift. Swift was known primarily as a satirist, and in this poem he uses his signature ironic tone to parody women's vanity, but also the expectations placed on them by society. The poem was initially published in 1732 as a pamphlet. It was enormously controversial, making Swift the target of attacks from many of his peers due to the poem's explicit scatological references.
